Unicorn Birthday Cake

Monday, July 16th, 2012

Character cakes are always a hit at a child’s birthday party. If you’re the parent of a little one then you already know this. This Unicorn Birthday Cake was inspired by Goldie, the pet unicorn from Goldilicious,  the follow-up to New York Times bestselling Pinkalicious and Purplicious picture books by award winning illustrator and author Victoria Kann. The books were inspired by Victoria’s real life daughters – two girls with vibrant imaginations who love cupcakes, dress up, playing princess, and all things pink.

The body of the unicorn was carved out of Vanilla Pound Cake and layered with Vanilla Buttercream. The head was modelled out of rice crispy treats and the hair and were piped with royal icing. The rest of the cake was draped with fondant and highlighted with pink pearl dust to give detail. Happy Birthday Sophie!

Piano Cake

Friday, April 17th, 2009

This piano cake was part of a surprise birthday party thrown to celebrate a piano playing husband’s 40th brithday! The rich, dark chocolate cake was filled with layers of dulce de leche buttercream.

”I wanted you to know how much I and my husband loved his piano cake. You did a fantastic job of it and to boot, the cake itself was delicious!!”
